This is my favourite chutney recipe its a recipe my mum used to make, I love eating it with hot parathas and also with lentils or vegetable pilau. Will also taste great added to a cheese sandwich.
Ingredients:
1/2 kg green apples peeled chopped into cubes.
Dried whole red chillies (6 to 8)
salt to taste
1 Tsp Kalongi (onion seeds)
2 tblsp roasted almond slices.
1 small cup of sugar
1/2 cup of vinegar
2 tblsp water
Put the apples in a pan add all the ingredients and cook uncovered so that the apples don't dissolve, you can add sultanas or dessicated coconut if you want the chutney to taste more fruity.
A variation to this is to use plums instead of apples however don't add the kalongi (onion seeds) or the coconut in the plum chutney.
